MY FLAT

There are many new streets in our city. I am Kamol Tursunov. I live in the centre of ancient city of Samarkand. This is my street. It is a large and broad street. There are many high buildings in it. This building is in Mirzo Ulugbek street. It is very high. There are big offices and shops in front of this street. There are many buses and cars in Mirzo Ulugbek street. There are 9 floors in every building, that’s why there are the lifts in the buildings. The flats are very large and very comfortable. Our street is very green and the air is always clean here because in front of every house there is a garden and a lot of flowers, trees.

I live with my parents. Our family is large. There are five people in our family. This is our flat. It is very comfortable. There are five rooms in it, a dining-room, two bedrooms, a study and children’s room. We have also a kitchen and bathroom. It’s our dining-room. Our dining-room is a large square room. In the middle of it there is a big round table and six chairs and a nice carpet on the floor in it. Over the round table, in the middle of the ceiling there is an electric lamp. In the corner there is a low table with a color TV set on it. In the front of the TV set there are two comfortable armchairs. Nothing is more pleasant in rainy weather than to sit in a comfortable armchair and watch TV programs. There is no radio set and tape-recorder in the dining-room, they are in the study.

The furniture in our dining-room is brown. The walls are blue. There are some pictures on the walls. They are pictures by old and modern Uzbek and foreign artists. There are some flowers on the window sills. It’s our study. At the window there is a desk. There are various things on it, such as a telephone, a computer, a lamp, some clean papers, some pens and pencils. In the corner there is a low sofa and a table for newspapers and magazines. I have a lot of Uzbek, English, Russian and other foreign books, newspapers and magazines. They are in the bookcase and on the bookshelves. The bookshelves on the wall over the sofa are also full of magazines. The furniture in the study is brown too. It’s of modern design. There is a lot of light and air in the room because the windows are large and the ceiling is high. There are no flowers on the window sills in the study.

We have not any pictures of our bedrooms and children’s room. Those rooms are small and there is not much furniture in them. There is an air-conditioner in our bedrooms. Our flat has all modern conveniences such as central heating, electricity, gas, running water (hot and cold), a chute to carry rubbish down and a telephone.
